well you know...she could at least ...

this is what happens to her sometimes
(while woodfires burn in morocco etc)
though hungry
though cold
though the night is punctured with panes of light
though knowing that in another room
there is bread and flame
she sits unmoving
not speaking
in darkness
it's what happens to her sometimes
she feels transparent she says
like an uncooked shrimp
in a glass bowl
three buddhas
