december 24th 2000 12.10pm

you stopped your car alongside me
in the early afternoon
your hands red nails
on the steering wheel
your face lit with the joy of surprise
the voice of callas escapes as i open the door
is recaptured as it shuts
you asked where i was going and drove in the opposite direction
parked beneath chestnut trees
you lift your skirt
to show no V of hair
only a dark slit pierced with a silver ring
you say: pull the ring
i pull gently on the metal
stretching your clitoris a little
you remove my hand
masturbate and come
the callas tape ends
you ask again where i was going and drive me there
you dont speak as we part
there is nothing
only the stillness of a december afternoon
and divinity flickering peripherally
face
