under milk wood on the radio when he should have been asleep

i remember mrs ogmore-pritchard
& her hatred
of visible hidden & innocent
dirt
i remember someone drowned
in a green deep welsh sea
i remember the reverend eli jenkins
mr & mrs organ-morgan
and the neighbours' litany
of gossip
yes & the night
against the window
& a candle reflected
a candle reflected
& my father's face
1959 approximately
& i remember the radio
faded blue covered wooden frame
& bakelite
& a battery filled with acid
& wires
yes the radio
that worked better
when it rained
