car doors whores and spores
monday 4th september 10.05pm - 10.25pm

trees stained amber by sodium light
footsteps behind
in front four figures approach
hooded silhouttes
women wait in allotted spaces
one calls my name
asks for cigarettes
says hold my hand
feel how cold
she tells me that her daughter is fine
and teething
a car stops
she leans in through the window
takes a £20 note from the driver
kisses my face
a chemical odour on her breath
the car drives away
tvs are a migraine in every window
a cat runs across traffic
escapes into dirty bushes
only sleep prevents
that journey from becoming eternal
and anoushka's daughter
from forever teething
